Here is a review of the compilation by Norman Records:
"Stench Of Muscle is the name of the compilation, as well as both the label putting it out as their debut release, and the series of Leeds gigs that have played host to the bands contained here, collecting many of the local scene's great and good plus many of those who simply passed through it, leaving nothing behind but a little turd of gratitude that smelled of DIY. Many of these tracks are exclusive to this release and a couple were actually recorded at the shows celebrated here. It's never easy to give a really good overview with compilations but each of these 21 tracks is a winner in their own way, always unified by a desire to do something more interesting than the average bear and also quite often by a skronking wonkiness.... If you want a taste of the real good stuff that goes on around Leeds rather than the rubbish that's pierced the mainstream, look no further - these sisters are doin' it for themselves, not in the desperate hope of catching a whiff of a middle-aged A&R man's sweaty, dangling cock. On CD only and packaged in a lavish and uncharacteristically professional-looking digipak with lovely hand-drawn artwork, this is as diverse and as interesting a grass roots compilation as you're ever likely to hear and album of the week for my penny and pound, rapidly worsening exchange rate be damned!"

Older CHOPS releases...

CHOPS TOUR CDR - made for the Talibam!, Cowtown and Puttin' On The Ritz November 2007 tours! (LOOK RIGHT FOR FREE DOWNLOAD!)

'CHOP OF THE POPS' was released on a Room 237 and Poor Girls Noise compilation in July 2007. The cd is a hand-made release jam-packed with football related banter, clichés and general nonsense. Each CD represents one of the 140 F.A. Cup Finals there has been; and that includes the replays. Each has a sticker with the specific F.A. Cup Final details, and coloured ribbon of the team that won the cup that year. Get in touch with Poor Girl Noise if you would like a cd and have a preference for a specific cup final year! It should be noted that CHOPS does not endorse corporate sports.

'MIND SHARDS IN THE MORNING' was released on the Chinchillafest 5 CDR Get Civilised Compliation (2007), sitting alongside a.P.A.t.T., BROWN OWL, HUMANFLY, KLING KLANG, PIFCO, COWTOWN, CHRONICITY, SENSE OR THIS?, DAWN CHORUS, INECTO SCHOOL, TIGERS!

The first CHOPS release was a series of free 7 song CD-Rs in a variety of lo-fi/non-existent packages. We donated approximately 1000 of them to various joyful looking people across the UK and continental Europe.

Free! NOVEMBER 2007 TOUR CDR MP3 ZIP from PUKEKOS.

Our good friend BJ Rubin (of infamy) has a sweet mp3 blog named PUKEKOS, containing an ever growing collection of rarities, oddities and also rans. In and amongst it all is an mp3 zip of a CHOPS tour cdr we made in November 2007. A collection of improvised live and practice recordings from our first few months of playing together, which we were selling cheap on the Talibam!, Puttin' On The Ritz and Cowtown UK tours.

CHOPS - Google My Stats - Live at the last ever Bletchley Leisure Centre gig, August 2009

CHOPS - Manland No. 5 - Live at Funder Strikes #19, August 2009

CHOPS footage and interview from Hokaben Festival in November 08 broadcast on the show TRACKS on ARTE.TV in France and Germany on 9 January.

On 3rd August 2008 we went to the NCM room to film a video for 'ILL EAGLE', which is on the UTR split 12". The crux of the video has to do with a certain dance that they do on the West Indian island of Petite Martinique where Ben's parents are from, called the cake dance. When Ben visited Petite Martinique, he filmed a wedding on a vintage VHS camera. Ben took on the central role of chief erotically dancing woman and imitated (to a certain extent) some of the moves they were throwing in the original film, which in turn the servile drones surrounding him would imitate. As for the idea behind it all, it's about wanting something really badly but in the end not getting it in the form that you wanted, and also about forgetting what's best for yourself as a person and spending the bulk of your time gorging on simple pleasures to the point where you choke to death on them. The video was produced and directed by Ben NCM and Herod. Massive thanks to Ben and Herod for all their hard work, Katie for the make-up and to all the hung-over dudes of The Uprights - conned, bribed and forced to make themselves look like idiots for a fair few hours.
