SELLING OUR SOUL!
In the highly vain hope of persuading more people to come to CHINCHILLAFEST 6, we've gone and set up a CHINCHILLA-TONE MYSPACE PAGE. It's worth checking the myspace for up-to-date gig listings for all of the bands under the chinchilla umbrella. We also set up a CHINCHILLA-TONE LAST FM page for chinchilla musics, where you can currently download free copies of previous chinchillafest compilations, 'Real Civlised' and 'Get Civilised'. There'll be more stuff added to the Last FM page in a month or so.

CHINCHILLAFEST 6 - 16, 17, 18 MAY 2008 @ THE BRUDENELL SOCIAL CLUB, LEEDS
Yeah, so here you go! The sixth annual Chinchillafest is one week after ATP Vs Pitchfork, and the same weekend as the Explosions In The Sky ATP, so we're pretty much going head on head?! The clash was a total accident, but like Diskant said a few years back, "Chinchillafest makes ATP look like a tired, washed up indie fest", so we got more than enough fun to have thank you very much! Weekend tickets are a total bargain at £15 for all three days... and weekend ticket holders can also look forward to a BILGE PUMP covers compilation CD, in celebration of the release of their 2nd album in their 14 year existence! There'll also be some sweet posters, visually stimulating set design (which will end up on display at an exhibition on Leeds DIY music at Leeds Central Library in September - more info on that coming soon), plus all of the usual highly advanced drunkard schinnannegannns and all the fun you want to take advantage of!

Full CHINCHILLAFEST 6 brain fodder and eye candy can be located here!.

The Brudenell Social Club is a vital space in the heart of LS6, with far more to it than the immediately striking Phoenix Night's style decor. It provides space for various sections from the local community to relax together, and provides a welcoming home to a wide variety of locally based entertainment and international acts alike. The Entertainments Committee have raised over £10,000 for sound proofing, and recently acquired funding of a further £10,000. We are keen to raise extra finances to pay for a few more essentials that the funding does not cover. If you're not already a member of the Brudenell Social Club, please remember to keep a couple of extra quid on you to join. To find out more visit www.brudenellsocialclub.co.uk

"NEW SONIC PIONEERS"
There's a blog on the GUARDIAN UNLIMITED site (November 2007) which lists CHINCHILLA, CHOPS and QUACK QUACK, (as well as our friends UPSET! THE RHYTHM, LEOPARD LEG, BIRDS OF DELAY, HEX OUT TAPES and THE POLLY SHANG KUAN BAND) as the UK's "new sonic pioneers". We don't particularly agree with most of the article, and we think there's a great deal more brilliant UK bands than those mentioned, but that's not to say we're not grateful for the appreciation from someone we don't know, because we very much are.

PIFCO CASSETTE ALBUM RELEASED!!
Finally, the slackest and most prolonged project of CHINCHILLA to date is complete! PIFCO handed us two cassettes containing no fewer than 47 songs, weighing in at just under 180 minutes of music! Together we picked out the best bits, and after a year of delays, they recorded newer songs which have been added to the release. Your ears will be excited! And so will your eyes, because Ste lovingly printed on 500 hand-made cardboard boxes! Email us or see us at gigs to buy one, £2.50 plus postage where necessary. Oh, and you can spot a review of the tape in the August 2007 issue of PLAN B. Thanks!

CHURNING OUT SOME NEW RELEASES: COWTOWN - CLECKHUDDERSFAX -
a.P.A.t.T. - TALIBAM! - CHOPS
Following the PIFCO tape album and COWTOWN cd, we are excited to be starting work on a few more records - snapping at their heels will be a CLECKHUDDERSFAX CD, full details soon. We just got the first mixes of a brand new a.P.A.t.T. album (containing different songs to the forthcoming PICKLED EGG album), and it's totally smoking hot! We'll have it out on CD sometime in November/December, and the 12" version will arrive sometime early in 2008. There's also be a TALIBAM! and CHOPS split DVD in the pipe-line, but it won't see the light of day until the new year, so please sit patiently and reeeelax.

Review from Norman Records
"
Leeds post-math perfectionists The Dragon Rapide have their lushly packaged 2nd studio collection now up for grabs. This is joyous & fizzy, uncompromising, optimistic, widdly, wobbly, kaleidoscopic & heart warming stuff. A great leap forward from the debut CD, musically, stylistically & in the production stakes too. There's elements of free jazz & world music here & there but all in all no threat of Andy Kershaw coming round your house to chew your ear off with that worthy accent. So think maybe a friskier, dizzier Tortoise jamming with small slices of Sea & Cake, Him, hints of Mice Parade & Five Style. Very intricate & clever stuff indeed. The sleeve art was done by their friend from Liverpool & blew me away".

Review from Jumbo Records
Wild guitar heroics like a cross between Fugazi, 80's British underground bands like Bogshed, and the experimental hardcore of Gay For Johnny Depp or Mukilteo Fairies. Uncompromising under ground punk rock! Skewed!"
